Connecticut River Valley

The Connecticut River Valley area is a destination for all seasons. It is a wonderful region with plenty of things to do and places to go to. The Nature Conservancy named it one of the western hemispheres “40 last great places”.

The  Connecticut River and shoreline is a shining gem and home to spectacular scenery, wildlife and history. You can travel through town after town with the country roads, famous New England stone walls, rock outcroppings (left by the glaciers that at one time extended from the North Pole through New Jersey!), river access, historic homes and buildings.

The Connecticut River Valley Inn is close to most tourist attractions in Connecticut due to its central location. Not only will you find great restaurants and history, the state is also filled with scenic nature trails for hiking in our State Parks and open space trails. It is the perfect base to explore New England!

We are close to historic coastal towns like Essex, Mystic and Old Saybrook. You will find antiques, gourmet dining, art galleries, museums, and sightseeing. There is also shopping in several world-class outlet stores.

There are also beaches at Hammonasset to enjoy, hiking in the local state parks and biking. You will also find several golf courses in the area and Cotton Hollow Nature Preserve is just a few miles down the street.
